ペーダ先生の授業で習った曲だが、今でも歌える。印象が強かったためであろう。その日に聞いた４曲の内、お気に入りを全員が尋ねられた。まちゃつが選んだのは“On Top of Old Smoky”。クラス内では少数意見であったが、４０年経過した今尋ねられたとしても、結論は同じ。基本的に寂しげな曲が好きなためか。２行を１行にまとめ、最初の４連だけを載せる。偶数行の行末（ここでは行末）に脚韻がある。
