“Keith works in the Quality Control Department,and has been with Toyota for 26 years. Toyota says he is one of the remaining team members of the roughly 200 original employees that worked at the plant when the first U.S.-built Camry rolled off the line in 1988. To celebrate the most recent Camry production milestone,and to reward the factory workers that helped make it possible,Toyota decided to raffle off the 10 millionth example.”
「トム・キース氏は品質管理部門担当で、勤続２６年。トヨタの広報によると、米国製カムリ１号車が生産ラインから出てきた１９８８年当初から生産に携わった従業員約２００名のうち現在も勤めているメンバーの１人。カムリを生産する上で画期的となる直近の一里塚を祝うために、また、これを可能にするのに寄与した工場労働者に報いるために、トヨタは１０００万台目を抽選で贈呈することに決定した」
“raffle off”「抽選で処分する」「くじの賞品にする」の意。「宝くじ」は“lottery”。ただし、「宝くじ券」なら“lottery tickets”やでッ。
